Objectives: To observe innovative and sustainable residential building, and unique load-bearing structure and a commitment to delivering a high-quality living space.

Brief of the event: AANGAN AT RYEWOOD, a residential masterpiece designed by Ar. Gayatri Khatau and constructed between 2008 and 2011, stands out for its innovative architectural features. The building’s defining characteristics include the use of exposed brickwork made from hollow bricks, strategically chosen for their dual role as structural support and natural thermal insulation. This design choice not only promotes sustainability but also enhances energy efficiency by harnessing the thermal mass of the bricks. The adoption of a load-bearing structure further distinguishes the project, providing both a structural and aesthetic uniqueness. The successful integration of these features into the overall design reflects Ar. Gayatri Khatau’s commitment to marrying functionality and aesthetics. The warm tones of the bricks contribute to the building’s visual appeal, creating a harmonious blend with the natural surroundings of Lonavala. Completed within a three-year timeline, this project showcases effective project management and underscores the architect’s dedication to delivering a high-quality residential space within a defined timeframe.
